Founding Philosophy

“Be the change that you wish to see in the world.” - Mahatma Ghandi

Traditional Medicinals Foundation is unique in that it works in partnership with Traditional Medicinals (TM), a for-profit business, to advocate for social sustainability in herbal sourcing communities. As such, the foundation is an integral part of TM’s mission, as well as a meaningful, evolutionary step in the company’s purposeful history.

Leveraging a portion of the company’s profits and resources, the foundation’s purpose is to advocate for education and empowerment. Through the collective efforts of the foundation, Traditional Medicinals, its partners and its customers, herb supply communities are able to enjoy a shared social prosperity.

Implementing development initiatives to fulfill its purpose, the foundation is focused on building schools, training village health workers, helping improve food and water security, providing women with opportunities for empowerment, and preserving culture and ancestral herbal knowledge. Together with TM, we are changing the world and demonstrating value throughout the supply chain of medicinal plants. Ours is a social business partnership guided by conscious and compassionate leadership.

An organization’s vision is an insightful view of how the world will look when its purpose has been realized and the mission accomplished. With this in mind, our foundation will (with Traditional Medicinals) help eradicate poverty in this century, do our part to restore the environment, and advocate for the education and empowerment of millions of our stakeholders to be more informed, to be healthier, and to lead more meaningful lives.

An organization’s success depends on its ability to unleash the imagination, the initiative, and the passion of all its stakeholders. When everyone connected to the organization is passionate about their work and supports the organization’s purpose, mission and vision, the organization’s success becomes inevitable. That’s why we invite you to browse our website, read about the communities we work in, learn about herbal education, and join this sacred journey of service.
