Established in 1988, the American Botanical Council (ABC) is the leading independent, non-profit, international member-based organization providing education using science-based and traditional information to promote the responsible use of herbal medicine.
United Plant Savers
The mission of United Plant Savers is “to protect native medicinal plants of the United States and Canada and their native habitat while ensuring an abundant renewable supply of medicinal plants for generations to come.”
American Herbalist Guild
The American Herbalists Guild (AHG) was founded in 1989 as a non-profit, educational organization to represent the goals and voices of herbalists. It is the only peer-review organization in the United States for professional herbalists specializing in the medicinal use of plants. AHG membership consists of professionals, general members (including students) and benefactors.
American Herbal Pharmacopeia
The Mission of the American Herbal Pharmacopoeia (AHP) is to promote the responsible use of herbal medicines and ensure they are used with the highest degree of safety and efficacy as is achievable. This is primarily accomplished through the development of standards of identity, purity, and analysis for botanicals, as well as to critically review traditional and scientific data regarding their efficacy and safety.
The American Herbal Products Association
The American Herbal Products Association (AHPA) is the national trade association and voice of the herbal products industry. Founded in 1983, AHPA is the recognized leader in representing the responsible center of the botanical trade, and is comprised of the finest growers, processors, manufacturers and marketers of herbal products.
United States Pharmacopeia
The U.S. Pharmacopeial Convention (USP) is a scientific nonprofit organization that sets standards for the identity, strength, quality, and purity of medicines, food ingredients, and dietary supplements manufactured, distributed and consumed worldwide. USP’s drug standards are enforceable in the United States by the Food and Drug Administration, and these standards are used in more than 140 countries.
Bastyr University is a nonprofit, private university offering graduate and undergraduate degrees, with a multidisciplinary curriculum in science-based natural medicine. Bastyr’s international faculty teaches the natural health sciences with an emphasis on integrating mind, body, spirit and nature.
Lloyd Library and Museum
Lloyd Library and Museum holds, acquires, preserves, and provides access to both historic and current books and journals, as well as archival materials, on a wide variety of disciplines that fall under natural history, botany, pharmacy, medicine, scientific history, and visual arts.
Missouri Botanical Gardens
Founded in 1859, the Missouri Botanical Garden is the nation’s oldest botanical garden in continuous operation and a National Historic Landmark. For over 154 years, the garden has been an oasis in the city of St. Louis, a place of beauty and family fun—and also a center for botanical research, education, science, and conservation.
California School of Herbal Studies
The California School of Herbal Studies (CSHS) is one of North America’s oldest centers for herbal education. Founded in 1978 by Rosemary Gladstar, the CSHS mission is to help create sustainable communities by providing Earth centered, community based herbal education.

California Certified Organic Farmers
As one of the first organic certification agencies, California Certified Organic Farmers (CCOF) has strong roots in the history of the organic movement. CCOF was instrumental in advocating for federal organic legislation; their organic certification standards were used as a foundation for the USDA National Organic Program, finally making “certified organic” a federally regulated claim. After more than 30 years of fighting for organic integrity, CCOF continues to certify, educate, advocate, and promote organic.
Canadian Health Food Association
The Canadian Health Food Association is Canada’s largest trade association dedicated to natural health and organic products. Their vision is a Canada in which everyone benefits from organic and natural health products.
Fair Wild Foundation
Established in 2008, the FairWild Foundation promotes the sustainable use of wild-collected ingredients, with a fair deal for all those involved throughout the supply chain. FairWild aims to provide a worldwide framework for implementing a sustainable, fair and value-added management and trading system for wild-collected natural ingredients and products thereof.
Green America is a not-for-profit membership organization founded in 1982. Their mission is to harness economic power—the strength of consumers, investors, businesses, and the marketplace—to create a socially just and environmentally sustainable society.
International Journal on Biodiversity Watch
International Journal on Biodiversity Watch is a peer reviewed journal developed to publish original, innovative, empirical and investigative research articles related to issues on Forest Law Enforcement. The Journal publishes investigative and empirical papers covering research findings across the sectors of forest governance, biodiversity conservation, issues relating to climate change, community based conservation, traditional medicine and medicinal plants conservation. All theoretical and methodological perspectives are welcomed.
Medicinal Plant Specialist Group
The Medicinal Plant Specialist Group (MPSG) is one of more than 120 Specialist Groups that are part of the Species Survival Commission of the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN). MPSG is a global network of specialists contributing within our own institutions and in our own regions, as well as world-wide, to the conservation and sustainable use of medicinal plants. The MPSG was founded in 1994 to increase global awareness of conservation threats to medicinal plants, and to promote sustainable use and conservation action.
Organic Trade Association
The Organic Trade Association’s (OTA) mission is to promote and protect organic trade to benefit the environment, farmers, the public, and the economy. OTA envisions organic products becoming a significant part of everyday life, enhancing people’s lives and the environment.
Sustainable Food Trade Association
The Sustainable Food Trade Association (SFTA) serves as one of the primary resources in promoting and implementing sustainable business practices in the organic trade through partnerships with industry businesses, non-profits, and trade associations. The SFTA believes that the organic food and farm sector must integrate environmentally sound, socially just business practices using a systems-based approach in order to reach its full potential.

Sonoma County BEST
BEST is a program designed to provide businesses with the information, resources and assistance needed to grow and succeed. Devoted to inspiring job growth in Sonoma County, BEST focuses on promoting business retention and expansion, attracting new business, and supporting innovation and entrepreneurship within the region.
